Hit-A-Thon FAQs

What is Hit A Thon?

The Hit-A-Thon is similar to a walk-a-thon. Each player participates and invites sponsors to make a tax-deductible donation to our league. The amount of the pledge can be based on the number of ‘home runs’ each player attains or a flat dollar amount. Each player gets 12 swings. The distance required for a ‘home run’ varies based on level. It is our goal that every player will hit at least one ‘home run’ during their swings.

Players enjoy seeing who hits the most ‘home runs’ and competing for prizes. Regardless of fundraising, Hit-A-Thon is a fun way to encourage team camaraderie and pride!

When is it?

  • For Majors and some Triple A teams, the 2019 Hit-A-Thon is on Friday, May 10 at Diamond Heroes.
  • For Single A through the remaining Triple A teams, the Hit-a-Thon is on Saturday, May 11 at Diamond Heroes.
  • For Tee-Ball, the Hit-A-Thon is on Saturday, May 11 at Westgate 2.
  • Single A through Majors teams should expect to be at Diamond Heroes for 30 minutes.
  • Tee-Ball teams should expect to be at Westgate 2 for 30-45 minutes.
  • Find your team’s full schedule, including Hit-A-Thon window, on www.fckll.org

Where is it?

Tee-Ball is at Westgate 2 (7500 Magarity Rd, Falls Church, VA 22043) and A-Majors is at Diamond Heroes (2829 Door Avenue, Merrifield VA 22031).  Diamond Heroes HitTrax allows us to digitally measure home runs, exit velocity, and more!

Why do we need to raise money for FCKLL? Doesn’t the registration cover it all?

The Hit-A-Thon is our largest fundraiser and raises 25-30% of the annual budget of the League. We use these funds for larger projects like the batting cages we built last year, as well as maintaining our fields, upgrading our equipment and dugouts, and conducting player and coach clinics.

What is our goal?

Our goal is 100% player participation raising $1,200 per team (regardless of level). The teams who win the team prizes usually have every player participating.

Should I request a flat donation or a pledge?

Generally, it is easiest to collect a flat donation of $10, $25, 50, or any amount. You can request a pledge, such as $10 per "home run." With most players hitting one or more home runs. Each player has a goal of $100.

How can friends and family donate?

Donations are accepted online with our partner 99 Pledges.  You should receive a link to your player pledge page. In addition, you can find your player’s page at https://99pledges.com/fund/FCKLL2019.   Donations can be made through the secure website by credit card. If a donor would rather give cash or check, bring it to Hit-A-Thon in an envelope clearly marked with your player’s name and level. All donations to the Falls Church Kiwanis Little League are tax-deductible.

Where is my link?

If you don’t see a link to your personal 99 Pledges page in the next 24 hours, check your junk mail!  If it isn’t there, contact us at .

How long do we have to get donations?

You should begin sharing your player’s pledge page as soon as possible.  For purposes of determining the prizes, the cut-off for fundraising is May 14, 2019. The website will remain active to accept additional donations.

What are the prizes?

Prizes include Washington Nationals tickets and baseballs signed by Juan Soto, Anthony Rendon, and Victor Robles, plus parties and camps at Diamond Heroes! Players who raise the most money or hit the most ‘home runs’ for their level will earn prizes.  In addition, the teams at each level which raise the most money will earn team prizes. Prize details will be provided next week on www.fckll.org.

How else can I help?
